PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel processing printer which is constituted of a plurality of units and can be continuously used, even in case some unit runs into a mechanical trouble. SOLUTION: In this parallel processing printer, a plurality of printing units, each having a printing means to record an image in a recording medium; a sheet supply unit with a sheet supply means to supply the recording medium to each printing unit; an accumulating unit with an accumulating means to accumulate the recording media which have an image recorded by the printing means of each printing unit and are ejected; and a main controller to control the printing means, sheet supply means and accumulating means, are provided. In addition, the printing unit, sheet supply unit and accumulating unit are detachably formed, and at least two of the printing unit, sheet supply unit and accumulating unit are formed in such a way that the main controller can be mounted on such two units.
