The seat has a seat pad (14) hinged to a base (3) and a pivoted backrest (17). The seat is moved from a sitting into a floor position, and the backrest effects the movement of the seat pad at the beginning of the process. When in floor position, the seat pad is disconnected from the backrest. The seat pad is connected via a four-bar linkage (28) to the backrest, which acts indirectly on the linkage when in sitting position. The linkage is pre-tensioned and is blocked indirectly by the backrest. The backrest is fastened to the base via a lock.
