[PROBLEMS] A memory card drive causes a plurality of memory cards to simultaneously operate, thereby executing a high speed reading or writing. Devices for supplying power to the memory card drive have variation therebetween in the value of a current supplied to the memory card drive because of their different capabilities. Therefore, the devices applicable to the memory card drive are limited. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] In a recording apparatus including one or more semiconductor memories, the number of the semiconductor memories that are caused to simultaneously operate is limited in accordance with the current that can be supplied by an access apparatus to which the recording apparatus is attached.
