Vertical form fill seal apparatus (200) for making flexible packages (10; 130) with slider fastener closures is provided. A fastener track (210) is applied in-line with a plastic web (206) and is bonded thereto at the same time that a peel seal (36) is formed. All package components are brought together at the point of fill. Prior to assembly at the fill station (250) a series of spaced-apart stop members (68) are formed along the fastener tracks (26, 28).
