<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink set improved in marker resistance, scratch resistance and bleeding characteristics without damaging the merit of a pigment-based ink providing an image having excellent image density and water resistance; and to provide a recording method by using the ink set. <P>SOLUTION: The ink set consists of ink (A) containing at least water, a pigment and a cationic polymer and having ≥33 and ≤39 mN/m surface tension, and ink (B) containing at least water and a coloring matter and having pH≤7 [the ink (B) consists of one or more kinds].
