<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can solve the problem of user's anxiety by judging whether or not image formation of image data (files) acquired from an information storage device is possible, and reporting that the image formation is impossible in the case where the image formation is judged to be impossible. <P>SOLUTION: A facsimile-combined apparatus 20 as the image forming apparatus accesses PCs 30a and 30b by the browsing function of a CIFS protocol, acquires identification information including folder names and file names, and displays the acquired identification information at a display part 4. At the same time, the facsimile-combined apparatus 20 is configured to receive an input of one or a plurality of designated files to be subjected to direct printing at an operation part 5 and to make the input copied into an image memory 8 by the file copying function of the CIFS protocol.
