PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus having a function of reading an infrared ray image and a visible image so as to detect dust and a flaw on a film from infrared ray image data that can improve discrimination accuracy between the dust and flaw and an image imprinted on the film. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus includes first and second infrared ray illumination light sources for reading an infrared ray image, the first infrared ray source emits light to the film in a vertical direction and the second infrared ray source emits light to the film obliquely, and the image reading apparatus reads the respective infrared ray images and compares the images.
