PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water jet propulsion apparatus for a high speed vessel, which uses a high-pressure water jet as a propulsion force without using an impeller and compressed air. SOLUTION: The water jet propulsion apparatus for the high-speed vessel comprises a casing which is connected to the bottom of a hull via supporting pillars so as to elongate along the hull and so as to be positioned in water, a water intake opening provided on the front face of the casing, one or more water jet openings which are provided on each of right and left surfaces and have a total cross sectional area smaller than the cross sectional area of the water intake opening, a piston pump which reciprocatingly operates in order to suck water from the water intake opening and in order to jet the water from the water jet openings, a water intake valve for intercepting a back flow from a pump chamber toward the water intake opening, and a water delivery valve for intercepting a back flow from the water jet opening side toward the pump chamber.
