<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can prevent degradation in the accuracy of density error detection, even when there is abnormality in misregistration detection information, by regulating the sizes, intervals, numbers, etc., of reference pattern images for density error detection based on the misregistration detection information. <P>SOLUTION: In the color image forming apparatus consists of an image creation engine which forms the toner images meeting image data signals, a movable body in which the toner images are transferred in a multiplicity, a reference pattern image control section which forms the reference pattern images for density error detection on the movable object, a photosensor which reads in the reference pattern images, a detection information extraction section which detects the density errors from the output signal of the phorosensor and a control section which corrects the image formation position and image density, according to the density error information sent from the detection information extraction section, a first density detection mode and second density detection mode are formed, and the reference pattern image control section selects either the first density detection mode or the second density detection mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
