<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus whose body is made small-sized by opening and closing a process cartridge protection cover when a process cartridge is loaded to a hold position and unloaded from the hold position and whose protection cover can be placed in secure operation. <P>SOLUTION: A projecting operation member 41 is provided on the side of the image forming apparatus body. The projecting operation member 41 is movable nearly at right angles to the operation of an operation for loading the process cartridge 20 to the holding position, and biased by a biasing means 43 toward the process cartridge. The projecting operation member 41 operates following along the outer shape surface of the process cartridge 20 when the process cartridge is loaded to the holding position and unloaded from the holding position to open and close the protection cover 71 of the process cartridge 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
