PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of sufficiently developing a security function of information transmission by a simple procedure without the need for the entry of a password by manual operation for each connection to a server apparatus. SOLUTION: A client terminal CT acquires a challenge character string whose term of validity is determined from an authentication server SVA and records the character string to a memory M1, in the case of connection to the authentication server SVA, the client terminal CT combines the challenge character string recorded in the memory M1 with terminal identification information stored in an identification information storage section 11 to generate authentication information and transmits the authentication information to the authentication server SVA via a communication network INW. Further, the authentication server SVA discriminates whether or not a user of the client terminal CT is a legitimate user on the basis of the authentication information coming from the client terminal CT prior to connection to the client terminal CT and connects with the client terminal CT when the user of the client terminal CT is the legitimate user.
