PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield excavator without interfering with the shield excavator for carrying out boring work and a boring method making use thereof. SOLUTION: The shield excavator 10 carrying out the boring work from the inside of the shield excavator 10 is constituted by having a bit 20 on a cutter face plate 11 in a detachable manner, a partition 12 longitudinally cutting off an inner space is provided to the inside of a shield, at the same time, an opening and closing section 30 capable of communicating the longitudinal inner spaces 13 and 14 with each other is provided to the partition 12, a boring machine 40 expansible in the direction of the axis of the shield excavator 10 and rotatable in the circumferential direction is located backward of the opening and closing section 30, and the front end of the boring machine 40 is connected to the back part of the bit 20 through the opening and closing section 30 to form the shield excavator 10 carrying out the boring work in the direction of the axis of the shield excavator 10.
