PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple-structured imaging apparatus that has the illuminating function in which illuminating light for illuminating a subject and auxiliary light of automatic focusing are emitted with the use of a plurality of light sources which have semiconductor light emitting elements. SOLUTION: An illuminating unit 16 includes a plurality of light source units that have semiconductor light emitting elements. When imaging with a strobe takes place, a subject is illuminated with all the light source units. Meanwhile, when focusing fails due to only with natural light, auxiliary light with predetermined light emission intensity is emitted by, for example, D3, D5, and D6, which are parts of the light source unit. A partial area S5 that is the part of the surface of the subject within a imaging area 32 is illuminated most brightly, and partial areas S3 and S6 are illuminated more brightly than the other areas excepting the area S5. Consequently, a pattern based upon the degree of luminance is formed on the surface of the subject, and thereby focusing takes place. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
