PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subtractive color processor and a subtractive color processing method by which the image of an original image can be subjected to subtractive color processing so as to obtain print image data of limited several colors in conformity with the person's sense. SOLUTION: Respective pixel data of RGB color image data (the original image) are converted to HSL data by a conversion processor 12. A subtractive color processor 13 calculates and processes each element such as hue, lightness, and saturation of the HSL data on the basis of a designated parameter. Consequently, the subtractive color processor 13 generates printing image data (a subtractive color image) whose colors are reduced to three kinds of colors, namely, first/second prescribed colors and a non-printing color. The parameters are entered and set from a subtractive color processing operation screen to be displayed on a display device.
