PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a disk playback apparatus of a simple and distinct design having a display apparatus which can display more information than conventional one. SOLUTION: A transmissive liquid crystal display device 4 is arranged above a disk 7 attached to a work chuck 5a of a disk playback drive mechanism 10 so as to cover the disk and it serves as a cover. Also, a lighting means by a plurality of LEDs 6 is provided between the disk 7 and the transmissive liquid crystal display device 4. A desired information can be displayed on the transmissive liquid crystal display device 4 by light by the plurality of LEDs 6 and light reflected by a label plane of the disk.
