PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium suppressing the floating fluctuation amount of a head slider to be further smaller. SOLUTION: Data track areas A1 and servo pattern areas A2 are formed while with non-magnetic materials are embedded in respective recessed parts on a plurality of kinds of uneven patterns P1-P5 formed from a magnetic material on a substrate. On the servo pattern areas A2, a plurality of kinds of 1st functional areas (preamplifier area Ap, address area Aa and burst area Ab) whereon control signals for disk access are recorded by the uneven patterns P2-P4 at the manufacturing, and 2nd functional areas (floating rate adjusting areas Ax) wherein the non-magnetic materials are embedded while the uneven pattern P5 having different kind from the uneven patterns P2-P4 of respective 1st functional areas is formed so that the average height in the areas becomes almost equal to the average height of the data track areas A1, are furnished.
