PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an image by which contamination of a charging member can be prevented even when a certain amount of toner is not cleaned in a cleaning step after transfer but remains on a photoreceptor and reaches a charging step, by using a toner in an almost spherical form. SOLUTION: The method for forming an image includes a charging step to charge the surface of an image carrying body 1 by bringing a roller type charging member 2a into contact with the image carrying body 1 under≤0.23 N/cm contact pressure or in the vicinity of the body 1, then a latent image forming step, a developing step, a transferring step and a cleaning step, with≥240 mm/sec process speed. The toner used in the developing step has (a) 0.95 to 1.00 average circularity and (b) 2.5 to 6.5μm weight average particle size (D4), and (c) contains a release agent inside.
