PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator device securing the safety of a user of escalator by making gradual the inter-footboard step when the footboard on which the user is riding transfers from the horizontal part to the slope or vice versa. SOLUTION: The escalator device has a plurality of footboards 10 connected with a chain 9 set over between the over-floor rotation systems 3 and 5 and the under-floor rotation system 8 and moved circulating under guidance of a guide rail 11, which is arranged so that a mild slope part 23 having a smaller inclining angle than the required inclination is formed between the horizontal part 21 of the over-floor get-on/get-off part 1 or the under-floor get-on/get-off part 6 and the slope 22 having the required inclining angle, and thereby the level difference between the footboards traveling in each mild slope part is set smaller than the normal level difference between the footboards traveling in the normal slope part, which relieves unstable condition due to steep inclination and secures the safety of passengers.
