PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper storage device capable of reliably stacking sheets of paper without disturbing sequences even on conveyance of a torn paper sheet or a wrinkled paper sheet. SOLUTION: The paper storage device 10 comprises a first discharge roller 21 for conveying and discharging a paper sheet (e.g., a check S1), a paper storage pocket (e.g., a check storage pocket 12) for stacking sheets of paper in a position shifting in a discharge direction of the paper sheet S1 by the first discharge roller 21, a first guide member (a paper guide 60) displaceable to a first position which inclines in the discharge direction of the paper sheet S1 by the first discharge roller 21 to guide the paper sheet S1 toward the paper storage pocket 12 and a second position which energizes the paper sheet S1 toward the paper storage pocket 12, and a second guide member 40 (a paper shift lever 40) which is positioned between the first discharge roller 21 and the first guide member 60 displaceable to a third position crossing the discharge direction by the first discharge roller 21 and a fourth position retreated to on the opposing side from the storage pocket 12 in the discharge direction.
