PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow shaft having a structure capable of being inexpensively manufactured, having a stable quality and easily and firmly connecting shaft elements separated in a shaft direction. SOLUTION: In the hollow shaft S, the shaft elements 1 separated in the shaft direction and positioned at both ends have a cylinder part 10 formed on an end side and a non-hollow shaft part 11 on the other side, a middle part is formed to be hollow by joining an opening end face of the cylinder part 10 of a shaft element 1 with an end face of another shaft element 1. The shaft elements have the cylinder part 10 on the end side and the non-hollow shaft part 11 is formed on the other side and a flange part 13 protruding radially outward by a predetermined quantity is integrally formed at the opening end part of the cylinder part 10.
