PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the dedendum strength and tooth surface strength in a gear at a lower cost by improving case hardening steel for a high strength gear. SOLUTION: The case hardening steel for a high strength gear having excellent pitting resistance and dedendum bending fatigue strength in a gear has a composition comprising, by mass, 0.10 to 0.35% C, 0.40 to 1.50% Si, 0.30 to 1.00% Mn,≤0.030% P, 0.008 to 0.035% S, 0.5 to 2.0% Cr, 0.005 to 0.035% Al, 0.10 to 0.25% Ti and 0.0020 to 0.0100% N, and satisfying Si+5Ti: 1.0 to 2.5%, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
