Cross-winding of thread on a textile machine, adjusts cross winder unit speed in proportion with delivery speed of thread supplied

The cross-winding velocity (transverse) developed by the cross winding unit (10, 12) is adjusted in proportion to the delivery speed of the thread (3) supplied. As required, the relative cross winding velocity is raised or lowered relative to the velocity developed by the cross winding unit. Specific cross winding velocities are avoided, i.e. when the duration of a complete cross winding corresponds with a whole number multiple of the duration of spool rotation, or vice versa. Thread tension is used as a control parameter when determining the cross winding velocity. When using cross winders on the textile machine which can be controlled independently in cross winding velocity, this is used to set the desired cross winding velocity. Should such units not be independent, at least one further, separate cross winding unit (10) is used. This is operated together with a service unit (6). An independent claim is included for corresponding spooling equipment for a textile machine.
