The U-shaped carrier has a pair of ratchet rods (5), fitted into corresponding seatings in the backrest of the automobile passenger seat and joined together by a yoke part (2), secured in a holder which forms part of the headrest. The yoke part has dowels (3) at either end, fitted into hollow spaces in the ends of the ratchet rods and expanded for locking them in the ends of the ratchet rods, by driving expansion pins (1) into the dowels.
