<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety for a person who is wearing this head mounted display device even when the person is walking outdoors. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing circuit 12 generates an edge image from a pickup image, and a walking failure level deciding circuit 14 detects an edge going from the peripheral position of the pickup image to almost the center position and an edge going to almost the vertical direction in the pickup image from among edges in the edge picture, and a real image information preparing circuit 15 makes the pixel values of pixels configuring the detected edge different from the pixel values of pixels configuring the non-detected edge to generate an image for explicitly notifying the detected edge.
