PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a channel selection apparatus capable of accurately carrying out channel selection in a shorter period of time with a simple circuit constitution. SOLUTION: An AFT voltage detection section 30 detects AFT voltages from a tuner 10 of a video recording and reproducing section 1 and a tuner 20 of a reception section 2 and a pulse counter 31 counts synchronizing signals separated by a video information processing section 13 of the video recording and reproducing section 1 and a synchronization detection section 33 detects the presence / absence of synchronization. A channel selection section 32 transmits a tuning instruction signal to the tuner 10 to cause a storage section 4 to store tuning frequency data and an AFT voltage when the synchronization is detected and carries out channel selection on the basis of data stored at channel switching processing of the tuner 20.
