PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder device, capable of improving coupling strength and coupling rigidity of a cap part for mounting a protective cover to a rod. SOLUTION: In a cylinder in which oil is enclosed, a piston 5 connected to a piston rod 6 is slidably engaged. A rod main body 6 inserted into the cylinder 2, and connected to the piston 5, and a bolt cap member 29 having a screw part 23 at a distal end and a cap part 28 at a base end part are welded with each other by resistance-welding to compose the piston rod 6. On the cap part 29, the protective cover 24 is installed. Since the rod main body 26 and the bolt cap member 29 are resistance-welded with each other, welding conditions are stable, and welding strength can be improved. Because the cap part 28 is integrated with a bolt part 27 in the bolt cap member 29, coupling strength and coupling rigidity of the cap part 28 to the piston rod 6 can be improved.
