PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiping method capable of preventing intrusion of a washing liquid relative to a delivery nozzle and suitably spraying the washing liquid to a wiping sheet, a wiping device, a liquid drop delivery device, a manufacturing method for an electro-optical device, the electro-optical device and an electronic instrument. SOLUTION: In the wiping method, a nozzle surface of a function liquid drop delivery head formed with a delivery nozzle for delivering the function liquid is wiped by using the wiping sheet sprinkled with the washing liquid in order to maintain the function liquid drop delivery head. In this method. sheet capillary force that the washing liquid can be impregnated to the wiping sheet is acted at sprinkling, and nozzle capillary force that the washing liquid cannot be intruded to the delivery nozzle is acted at wiping.
