PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aestically excellent seat structure for a chair which prevents the peripheral edge of a skin material from separating from a base board at a bent section, and at the same time, causes not slack on the skin material in a vicinity of the bent section. SOLUTION: A cushion material 2 which is provided on the surface of the base board 1 facing the vertical direction is covered with the skin material 3, a flexible tying strap 10 being attached to the peripheral edge section of the skin material 3 is tightened on the rear surface side of the base board 1, and the peripheral edge section of the skin material 3 is contracted in a seat for the backrest of a chair. In the seat for the backrest of the chair, the base board 1 is constituted into a shape having the bent section 4 which is bent into an approximately L shape when seen on the side surface. A fastening section 6 on which the tying strap 10 is hooked is formed on both sides in the width direction on the rear surface of the base board 1 while being in a vicinity of the bent section 4.
