PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vessel which is attractive, can grow plants under good environment excellent in air permeability and can be returned to soil when it becomes unnecessary. SOLUTION: This vessel for growing plants is constituted by molding a material prepared by mixing and kneading powdery charcoal (e.g., wood charcoal, or the like) with biodegradable caking material (e.g., a starch resin, or the like) and solidifying the same. As charcoal, a material other than the wood charcoal (e.g., bamboo charcoal) can be used. When carbon material carbonized at low temperature of about 400°C is used as the charcoal, nutrient components (alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and the like) for plants remain to give far better effects on the growth of the plants.
