The invention relates to a method for producing a security document which comprises printed details and consists of at least one first sheet (1, 3a) and a second sheet (3, 3b) connected thereto, a contactless chip (2) and the antenna thereof clamped between said two sheets. The inventive method consists, prior to connecting the sheets, in exposing the verso face (30) of at least one sheet to an operation generating at least one cavity (4) and simultaneously producing a relief on the opposite recto face thereof. One of said cavities (4) is constructed in such a way that the sizes thereof make it possible to receive the chip (2) during the connection of said sheets. Said invention is mainly characterised in that the operation consists in copperplate printing said sheet in such a way that said relief (5) is coated with ink (6).
