This invention relates to an ethylene oxide catalyst which contains, prior t o the catalyst's first use in the conversion of ethylene to ethylene oxide, silver, one or more alkali metal promoters and 0.4 .times. 1 0- 3 to 4.0 .times. 10-3 moles of chloride per mole of silver deposited on an alpha alumina carrier. The catalyst provides for an improved start-up whe n slatted up in the presence of ethylene oxide, oxygen and chlorohydrocarbon moderator. |
