FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; methods of heat treatment of railway rails. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes delivery of rail for heat treatment at temperature of 810-830°C; hardening of rail head is performed by immersion in polymer medium at temperature of 20-58°C; duration of treatment is equal to 40-60 s and rate of cooling the head is equal to 8-13°C/s; for cooling the rail foot, use is made of compressed air at flow rate of 18-25 m3/min at pressure of 3-5 atm and at temperature of 10-30°C during entire period of hardening and 40-50 s after hardening at cooling rate of 9-13°C/s. ^ EFFECT: improved mechanical properties and hardness of steel; increased operational resistance of rails. ^ 2 tbl |
