DEVICE AND METHOD FOR NONINVASIVELY MEASURING CARDIAC OUTPUT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for noninvasively measuring cardiac output.

SOLUTION: The device has an airway tubular path 52 coming into contact with the airway of a patient, an inhalation tubular path 54 connected to the airway tubular path and an expiration tubular path 56 connected to the airway tubular path and is used for noninvasively measuring the cardiac output of the patient. The device is constituted so as to have an air releasing line 106 for selectively discharging a certain quantity of the expiration gas from the patient and a selectively adjustable valve 108 connected to the air releasing line for releasing a certain quantity of the expiration air through the air releasing line. The method provides a novel means 46 for roughly calculating the cardiac output according to the CO2value of pulmonary alveoli other than the CO2value in the end period of breath in conventional method. The program for calculating out the cardiac output is also disclosed.
