<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method for removing any shadow in an image with simpler configurations, and for applying image correction against luminance value abnormality in the image due to the influence of the scatter and absorption of rays of light in an atmosphere. <P>SOLUTION: In an image, an image site where an object having reflective characteristics which are identical or similar to the objects of an image site where any shadow on an object appears and/or an image site where luminance value abnormality appears due to the influence of an atmosphere appears is selected, and regression analysis is performed by using the arithmetic mean of the luminance values of each wavelength band of each of the selected pixels as explanatory variables, and by using the luminance values of each wavelength band of each of the pixels as target variables, and a regression formula is generated for each wavelength band of each of the pixels. Then, when a quotient calculated by dividing the luminance values of each wavelength band of each of the pixels constituting the image site where the influence appears in the image by the predicted value of each wavelength band of each of the pixels obtained by the regression formula is used as a correction value to correct the luminance values of each wavelength band of each pixel of the image site where the influence appears, the image site where the influence appears in the image can be removed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
