FUEL INJECTION DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device for an internal combustion engine capable of effectively discharging foreign matters in a regulation valve provided in a high pressure fuel supply system.

SOLUTION: The fuel injection device is provided with a high pressure fuel supply system 13 directly injecting and supplying fuel to a combustion chamber. A delivery pipe 20 of the high pressure fuel supply system 13 is provided with a relief valve 34 for regulating fuel pressure in the delivery pipe 20. This relief valve 34 consists of a valve arbitrarily driven open and close by ECU 40. When the ECU 40 detects that the relief valve 34 bites foreign matters, the ECU 40 control to open the relief valve 34 and controls a high pressure pump 21 to raise fuel pressure acting on the relief valve 34.
