PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a high functional fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin pellet capable of controlling an opening degree and fiber length of a reinforcing fiber, having high productivity, good flowability in molding and an excellent profile. SOLUTION: This method comprises steps of (1) melting and mixing high functional fiber spun yarn and a thermoplastic resin under heating using an extruder, (2) dispersing cut high functional spun yarn, produced by cutting the high functional fiber spun yarn between a screw and a cylinder using shearing stress generated in the mixing, into the thermoplastic resin and (3) forming the mixed resin obtained at (2) into the pellet.
