PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a granulation treatment method for the raw material in iron making, in the production of sintered ore used as the raw material for blast furnace charging in a pig iron making stage, which is effective for the granulation of the raw material in iron making such as powder iron ore, improves the granulation properties of the raw material in iron making, simultaneously segregates fuel such as coke on the upper layer in the sintering raw material layers, maintains and improves its ignitionability to the sintering raw material layers, and can realize the sufficient productivity of the sintered ore. SOLUTION: Regarding the granulation treatment method for the raw material in iron making, in the method where the raw material in ion making comprising powder iron ore is subjected to granulation treatment in the presence of fuel essentially composed of coke and/or anthracite, the ratio of the particles within a particle diameter range of 0.25 to 0.5 mm in the fuel is controlled to 15 to 80 mass% of the fuel of 100 mass%.
