摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the detection signal level in a position detection device which adopts a reluctance type detection method, especially a type with detection coil patterns laid on a printed board. SOLUTION: The position detection device comprises a gear 110, having projections and depressions on the surface thereof and made of a magnetic material and the printed board 101 (a second member) which faces the gear 110 via a gap and relatively moves with respect thereto, detecting a relative displacement, on the basis of the change in the projections and depressions of a first member. The second member comprises the printed board 101, forming the detection coil patterns 102a, 102b and an iron core 120 around which an exciting coil 121 generating varying magnetic flux is wound. The varying magnetic flux, generated by the iron core 120 which fluctuates due to the change in the magnetoresistance between the projections and depressions of the gear 110 and the detection coil patterns 102a, 102b, is detected with an induced voltage of the detection coil patterns.
