PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication apparatus and an authentication system which enables a more secured authentication. SOLUTION: The radio communication apparatus 100 performs a communication and the authentication with other radio communication apparatus. The apparatus 100 comprises a communication/authentication unit 1 for communication with the radio communication apparatus and authenticating the radio communication apparatus, a transmitter 2 for transmitting authentication information, and a transmission output controller 5 for controlling to lower the transmission output when conducting the authentication, and to limit the range enabling the authentication to a near range.
