LEAKAGE DETECTION METHOD FOR CANISTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a leakage of helium from a canister while housing it inside a transportation cask. SOLUTION: This leakage detection method for the canister comprises the processes of: sealing mixed gas consisting of 0.1-5 vol% of helium 3 and helium 4 in the canister 10 housing a used fuel a; filling a gap part 25 between the transportation cask and the canister with helium 4 after housing the canister 10 inside the transportation cask 20; and transporting the transportation cask 20 to a predetermined facility and detecting helium3 leaking from the canister 10 by means of a helium leakage detector 30 after discharging or while discharging the helium 4 loaded inside the gap part 25.
