PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent display quality from being deteriorated when manufacturing an organic EL display device by a wet application method. SOLUTION: In order to form a hole injection layer which is one of organic thin film layers forming an organic luminescent layer, a liquid organic luminescent layer material is applied from the opening part of a metal mask by a mask spray method. The liquid organic luminescent layer material is applied to a display region 24 and an applied region 26 including regions outside the display region 24. Organic layers outside the display region 24 are removed by dry etching. Thereby, uneven display in the end part of the display region 24 caused by outflow of the liquid material from the display region 24, or generation of a difference in luminance produced between the center part and the peripheral part in a display picture element can be suppressed.
