PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder block structure of an engine having a timing chain device before a cylinder block in which the radius of curvature of a guide face of a chain guide is increased without increasing the width of the engine, the contact pressure of the timing chain with the guide face of the chain guide is reduced, and abrasion of the chain guide by the contact is suppressed. SOLUTION: In the cylinder block structure of the engine constituted so that a timing chain device is provided before a cylinder block, and a main gallery formed inside the cylinder block is located outside the chain guide of the timing chain device, the main gallery comprises an inner main gallery provided on the inner side and an outer main gallery which communicates with the main gallery and provided on the outer side of the inner main gallery in a stepped manner, and an oil passage to drop oil downward from the cylinder head side is provided on the outer side in a direction orthogonal to the axis of a crank shaft of the inner main gallery.
