PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially advantageously producing 3,3-dimethyl-2-(1-propenyl)cyclopropane carboxylic acids. SOLUTION: This method for producing a 3,3-dimethyl-2-(1-propenyl)cyclopropane carboxylic acid ester expressed by formula (2) (R is an alkyl which may be substituted, an aryl which may be substituted or an aralkyl which may be substituted; and * expresses an asymmetric carbon atom) comprises acting a copper compound and a nitrogen-containing aromatic compound on a 3,3-dimethyl-2-(2-carboxy-1-propenyl)cyclopropane carboxylic acid ester expressed by formula (1).
