PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating and turning operation structure of a spanner, overcoming the disadvantage that reversing and backward moving of an opening spanner takes much time. SOLUTION: This reciprocating and turning operation structure includes a spanner body 10. The spanner body is provided with an open type fitting part 11 at least at one end. The fitting part is U-shaped, and a jaw part 12 holding an engagement part such as a nut to be turned is formed in a position of a suitable depth of the U-shaped fitting part. A Y-shaped elastic part 14 including a holding jaw 16 is provided by the jaw part. A smooth part 13 having the width of an opening part a little larger than the jaw part and connected to the jaw part is formed in the further inmost position of the fitting part. Since the smooth part has a width a little larger than the width of the jaw part, the spanner body is raised by an elastic part due to looseness of force in turning operation, and released from holding of the jaw to cause a racing phenomenon, so that the backward turning in the reverse direction can be performed.
