A carbon material which comprises a raw carbon material such as an active carbon fiber, activated carbon, graphite, carbon nanotube and nanocarbon and , added thereto, a metal material such as chromium and iron; and a flue gas treatment apparatus for removing a harmful substance (such as an S-containin g material) contained in a flue gas by the use of said carbon material.
