<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode material capable of increasing the capacity of a lithium secondary battery and reducing the expansion of the electrode in charging. <P>SOLUTION: In the negative electrode material made of particulate artificial graphite, (a) tap density is made to be ≥1.15 g/cm<SP>3</SP>, (b) the plane interval d<SB>002</SB>of (002) plane by X-ray diffraction is made to be ≤0.3360 nm, (c) the orientation ratio of a active material of the electrode, formed by using the negative electrode material as the active material and made to have 1.63±0.05 g/cm<SP>3</SP>electrode density, is made to be ≥0.04 and ≤0.20 and (d) the discharge capacity of the lithium secondary battery formed by using the negative electrode material is made to be ≥345 mAh/g. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
