<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fatty acid ester-based solvent using as raw material a vegetable oil-derived fatty acid compatible with environmental problems and safety, having low viscosity and good low-temperature fluidity, and capable of suppressing the swelling and contraction of the rubber rolls or the like of printers formed of NBR or the like even if used in large quantities as a printing ink solvent in particular, to provide a printing ink composition, and to provide an ink cleanser for printers. <P>SOLUTION: The fatty acid ester-based solvent comprises at least one fatty acid ester compound of structural formula(1)( wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is a 5-14C branched-chain hydrocarbon group; R<SP>2</SP>is a 5-21C straight-chain or branched-chain saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; R<SP>3</SP>is a 2-4C hydrocarbon group; the number of carbon atoms for R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>totals 13-33; and n is an integer of 1-20 ).
