PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of setting automatically the connection number of indoor units and indoor unit identification numbers in both an outdoor unit and the indoor units, as to the indoor unit identification numbers set between the outdoor unit and the plurality of indoor units, even in a communication circuit in which mutual transmission and reception are impossible each other among the indoor units. SOLUTION: The each indoor unit sets an identification code in which the number of logical codes of a code sequence becomes 1, and transmits it to the outdoor unit so that the transmitting timing of all indoor units gets simultaneous. The outdoor unit receives a logical sum code through a receiving circuit at a fixed number of times, sets the each indoor unit identification number based on the received codes, using the maximum value of the received logical code number as the number of connected indoor units, and transmits the identification number and the final transmission identification code to the respective indoor units through the transmission circuit. The outdoor unit stores the final transmission identification code, and sets concurrently own identification number, based on the identification number received from the outdoor unit.
