PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-train data communication system and an in-train data communication method wherein in data communication between a plurality of trains a sufficient communication speed is ensured. SOLUTION: The in-train data communication system includes three or more communication apparatuses each having a MODEM, and free cables installed in a train to interconnect the plurality of the communication apparatuses, each communication apparatus has a separate MODEM related to each of other communication apparatuses connected to the communication apparatus, and the MODEMs in the communication apparatus connected to the different communication apparatuses are configured to carry out data communication by using different frequency bands respectively.
