PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of preventing a picture in the case where there is an obstacle in front of a plane-shaped object from being stored in an external memory with a small number of components. SOLUTION: In this imaging apparatus, a picture of a photographing object is captured in a step S12, the captured picture is stored in an internal memory 42 in a step S14. Focusing information of each area of the picture stored in the internal memory 42 is acquired in a step S16. Acquired focusing information of each area is compared in a step S18 and whether there is no obstacle or not is judged from information obtained from a result of comparison in a step S20. When the judgment is denied, since there is the obstacle, the above-mentioned processing is repeated by returning to the step S12. When the judgment is affirmed, since there is no obstacle, a recording control part 46 is directed to store the picture stored in the internal memory 42 in an external memory 50 in a step S22. thus, the picture is recorded in the external memory 50.
